Embrace The Leadership Challenge: Making the Most of Managing from the Middle
Jeffery Cufaude
Managing from the middle doesn’t have to feel like being mired in a muddle. Yet individuals in middle management positions too often allow their place on the organizational chart to unnecessarily constrain their contributions. And when talking about leadership, many people focus on the leader, the one with the title, instead of leadership, the behaviors that any individual can contribute regardless of their title. In this two-part workshop we will explore the power of one and how you can make a difference.
Check out the specific content segments here.

8 Ways to Make Financial Literacy Captivating
Colin Ryan, Creator of Economy of Me, Vermont Credit Unions’ Youth Finance Movement
High school students are a tough audience. You want to help them realize how crucially important financial literacy will be in their lives, but you’ve seen the glazed look in their eyes…the fingers quietly texting…the lack of engagement in what you are presenting. How do you get them to be interested, even intrigued, by the information you want to give them? In this session learn eight simple strategies that you can apply (five things to do and three things to stop doing) that will actually make financial literacy captivating:
- Tell your own powerful story
- Connect through humor
- Bridge the gap (it’s not about being young)
- Be unpredictable
- Absorb their embarrassment
- Understand the language
- Turn students into teachers

eMerging Technologies & Mobile Marketing
Mark Arnold, President, On the Mark Strategies
We are now a mobile and technology driven society. Our members are constantly “on the move” and using new technology every day. Think of all the people you see today handling their blackberries all the time or their cell phone attached to their ear. A recent survey revealed that 92% of consumers want mobile devices to combine with the Internet, kiosks, and ATMs to improve overall service experience. Emerging technologies is something we are going to have to deal with as marketers. Key points to consider include:
- Children and teenagers live on the Internet.
- In the future, convenience will be defined electronically.
- Cell phone financial services are expanding.
- Future marketers have to be technologically savvy.
- Credit unions may need to adjust their organizational charts to reflect the marketing and technology merge.
This session will cover:
- Technology strategies and trends
- eMerging technologies
- Benefits and best practices
- Implementation tactics
